With over 25 years of experience as a DJ and Master of Ceremonies, Ed Petty is the definition of a career entertainer.
In fact, he graduated from the America School of Broadcasting, and has one of the most unforgettable voices you will ever hear. Ed Petty started at a young age with private parties and clubs, and upon entering the Navy he stayed active in various forms of entertainment, including co-hosting a nightly news and variety television show on the USS Valley Forge.
For the past 15 years, Ed has focused on his true passion: weddings. He has an uncanny ability to read a crowd, and make anyone of any age feel comfortable and a part of the evening.
Ed is reputable, virtuous, and honorable. Whether it’s the most elegant of settings or that all out “let your hair down” party, Ed’s experience and musical knowledge makes him the perfect entertainer for your reception!
What was the first concert you attended?
What’s your best attribute?
My musical knowledge and ability to read a crowd. I’ve been humbled by many comments from people in the industry stating that I was one of the best crowd readers they have seen. Even at a young age, my mentors said I had a natural talent for it that wasn’t teachable.
Before today, what’s your favorite moment ever as a DJ?
Dennis and Amy Wilson’s reception back in 2010. During the dancing time we surprised Amy in the middle of “Song for You” by Michael Buble by turning the music down and Dennis played the trumpet solo in the middle. She had her back to him & the dance floor was packed. The crowd parted and he came walking through it playing. She turned around and saw him as he made his way toward her. After the solo we took the trumpet and he finished the dance with her. Not a dry eye in the house!
